World War, as a fund-raiser.
It contains short stories written J. M.
Barrie, John Buchan, Arthur Conan Doyle, Hall Caine,
etc., as per the contents page above.
As well as many black and white
illustrations, there are eleven paintings that were
printed separately and then mounted in the book.

the second contents page above.

painting above illustrates the Scarlet Pimpernel
story..

King Albert’s Book

This book was printed in 1914, after
Germany’s invasion of Belgium. It carries the
statement: "This book is printed for the benefit
of the Daily Telegraph Belgian Fund."
It contains an introduction by Hall
Caine, and many short statements by a myriad of
statements by famous contemporary figures, and includes
a printing of their written signatures, as well as
poetry, music sheets. Above is the second of
three pages of contributors.
Numerous paintings and drawings
were printed separately and then mounted in the

Life of Henry Ward Beecher

The preface is dated 1881 and the printer
is stated as "Walter Scott, The Kenilworth
Press, Felling, Newcastle" but no printing
date is given (Memorable Men of the 19th Century
series: #3).
Beecher (1813-1887 and brother of Harriet
Beecher Stowe) is described as "minister of the
gospel, statesman, lecturer, man of letters and
philanthropist".
Included is a printed fold-out message to
the author in Beecher’s handwriting.
