Combined Scottish Lunch and "Ceilidh": Wingham and District Memorial Services Club
Scottish Lunch and "Ceilidh" Clarification
The event is a luncheon and cèilidh at 12 noon in the Wingham Services Club.
By cèilidh we mean what the word meant in its original sense, musical entertainment put on by family members when a clan came together; it is not a dance: that is a meaning added later by those interested in country dancing.
The event will finish about 2.30 pm to allow those who are travelling to get on the road reasonably early.
Every year we invite the Clan of Honour (the Camerons this year) to have a gathering of the clan at this event.
That means there will be tables set aside for the Camerons and we hope many will attend.
No doubt some will meet other Camerons they haven’t met before, perhaps even distant relatives they do not know.
The luncheon will be a three course meal of Scottish dishes.
As well as the musical entertainment, which will include Cameron pipe tunes and Cameron songs, there will be a PowerPoint presentation on the history of the Camerons in Scotland and Australia.
One source of confusion we have every year is whether the luncheon and cèilidh is restricted to the Clan of Honour. Not so - all are welcome.
The event is booked out every year so it would be wise for the Clan of Honour - the Camerons - who want to go and meet other Camerons to book early!
